Galveston, Texas's Gulf Coast island, is best known for getting in the way of hurricanes. (But there are only blue skies for the man of the hour, right, detouring the chimney into Galveston.)

Galveston deserves to be known for its confidence and charm: its lovely Victorian downtown, its phenomenal bird life, and - first and foremost - the fierce survival instinct of each and every BOI (Born On Island) and IBC (Islander by Choice).

Luxury Travel Guest Author Christine Lim recently explored Galveston for Luxury Travel. "Galveston is so varied, you can customize your experience," she says.
