The Pierre, a New York luxury hotel, opened in 1930 and has since been deemed one of New York's most elegant hotels. It is a recipient of many elite awards including the rare AAA Five Diamonds and, in 2014, Forbes Five Stars.
The Pierre is now part of the Taj Hotel group that operates, among other distinguished properties, the Taj Mumbai Palace & Tower, the Taj Boston (formerly the Ritz-Carlton Boston), and the Taj Campton Place, San Francisco.
Unlike many stately old hotels, there is nothing faded about The Pierre. It underwent an extensive sprucing-up before reopening as a Taj Hotel in 2009. It is glossed to a high finish, with an exuberant New York air and a buzzy Manhattan restaurant, Sirio Ristorante, just off the lobby.
The Pierre boasts an ideal Manhattan location at the exact point where midtown, the Upper East Side, and Central Park meet. In other words, the intersection of business, leisure, culture, and shopping.
Dog owners, take note: Bring your best friend! The Pierre has a notably welcoming pet policy. Dogs under 15 lbs. are allowed at no extra charge and with no restrictions. (However, cats are not invited to the Pierre pet party.)
