The Hotel Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale
The Ritz-Carlton Spa is Fort Lauderdale's most upscale spa. It is done in sleek buff-toned marble and blond wood, and its waiting area resembles a plush living room.
This full-service spa is renowned for its massages, which can also be performed in a guest's cabana or room facials. Facials are thorough and deluxe. One of the most in-demand is the 50-minute Anti-Aging Lifting Facial. Its highlight is a spin with the skin-tightening NuFace microcurrent facial toning device, available for home use at the spa boutique.
The spa's gift shop also sells beachwear, complexion and body potions, and cosmetics. (Another shop in the lobby sells everything from luxury magazines to well-designed gifts to French pastries in a refrigerated case.)
The spa's locker room is stocked with everything from high-end hair products to razors. Multi-treatment spa packages (with lunch!) are available. Spa guests must be over 18.
Fitness at The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale
Some Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale guests make the beach their gym. But the hotel's on-premises fitness center is outstanding. It has all the latest Technogym cardiovascular machines and strength equipment. Steppers, treadmills, and stationary bikes have Intracoastal Waterway views. Patrons will also find circuit machines, free weights, core stability balls, yoga and crunch mats, and the like.
Devoted fitness-center attendants help patrons maximize their workouts – and proffer water, towels, and earbuds. Hotel guests can arrange personal training sessions. Yoga, spinning, and other fitness classes are offered through the hotel's spa.

Pool, Cabanas, and Beach at The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale
The hotel's sole, oval pool is big enough for lap-swimming. The hot tub has an ocean view. Unlike some South Florida resorts, there is no kids' pool.
The pool deck's burgundy-and-white chaises are plush and ample. Circulating waiters deliver extra towels and take drink and food orders. Poolside wifi is available for a price.
The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale's 10 cabanas, set on a private "VIP deck" overlooking the ocean, lend a French Riviera air to the hotel. Cabanas offer big-screen TVs, iPod docks, mini-fridges, snack platters, and further menu options. Optional cabana packages include customized food, drink, and a massage. Cabanas should be pre-booked, especially on weekends.
The Ritz-Carlton's beach, directly opposite the hotel, is accessed by a private walkway to the beach. (Going barefoot is fine.) Fort Lauderdale golf is renowned. Ritz-Carlton guests can take advantage of the hotel's privileges at Grande Oaks Golf Club, where Caddyshack was filmed.
